Labor Day

Thanks to Labor Day, I have a very nice three day weekend. Not that I particularly needed one seeing as school only just started. Then again, school's going by pretty slowly so far. I'm trying to get back in the swing of homework and getting up early. Also, our first soccer game is this coming Wednesday against Vergennes. I have yet to find out what position I'll be playing. In the past I've played defense and midfield, although I don't think I'm really in good enough shape to play midfield, but we'll see.

Since ALL my friends are gone this weekend, I've been hanging out with my family. I haven't visited my new niece Sophie yet, but I'm visiting with my other slightly older neice Alison. Although, I'm trying not to get too close because I've finally contracted the cold that I had avoided for so long. Oh well. So that's all for now.

Sophie

You should all go to Josh's site to see pictures of Sophie, who is very cute.

I also, just had my first real day of school today, which was fun, for the most part. I somehow wound up having about two and a half hours of free time (all at once) on Wednesday which will be awesome, although I assume sometimes boring. So it should be a fun year.

Goal for tomorrow: work hard at soccer practice

Niece

Yay, I have a brand new niece! I would spell her name, but I'm afraid I'd spell it wrong. Anyways, congratulations Josh and Kara!!!

Friday Night

I got a terrible glimpse into the future last night when I was left to fend for myself at dinnertime. My parents were off at one movie, my sister at another and I was on my own. I had been out selling goldcards with Abra up until around 6 when we gave up (I only have 4 left to sell out of the 12 I began with).

Being home alone, bored and not wanting to fry my brain watching t.v, I opted to use the computer. I was online making plans for that night for about an hour an a half before I realized I was hungry and needed dinner. I left my instant messages waiting and wandered out to the kitchen in search of food. I stood for a while in front of the cabinets trying to decide what to eat before I looked over at the clock and realized I only had about ten minutes until I had to walk down to my friends house. So, I grabbed a bag of smartfood, some nasty Little Debbie type thing and an Iced Tea and headed back to the computer.

My "dinner" had to be eaten very hastily because I was quickly running out of time. Then, as I was finishing my Iced Tea I realized that I had made three different plans for the night. I had really intended to hang out with everyone I said I would, but the more I thought about it, the less possible I realized it was. So, I just went with the most planned out plan and walked down to Abra's house.

So all in all, my night turned out not at all as I had planned it, but a lot of fun anyways. And, I'm hoping that I'll learn how to make my self a somewhat decent dinner sometime before I have to go to college - decent meaning not noodles, cereal, junkfood, etc. So basically, it wasn't a very memorable night, but good enough to write an entry about.

Goldcard

For soccer, I have to sell these things called "goldcards," that can get you lots of discounts at places like McDonalds (and I'm sure you all go there about every night, huh?), and other places around Montpelier (I'm going to ignore the fact that half of you don't live in Montpelier, and the other half are selling the same cards). All this for the price of $10! Quite a deal, isn't it? Yea.. So if any of you want to support the Montpelier girls soccer team, you should buy one. But hurry, I only have about a million left!

More Soccer

I just got back from my second soccer session today and it went very well. It was a lot of fun and I scored a goal (even though it was just a scrimmage... and I apologize if that's spelled wrong, but I'm sure you can figure it out.) I also ordered a Montpelier soccer t-shirt, which is very exciting. Now, I'm off to shower because I'm all sweaty!

I woke up at 6:45 today to get ready for soccer, which started at 8. The practice was a lot of fun today. Yesterday was fun, but not as much as today. Because today we played in little teams against eachother as opposed to the drills we did yesterday.

We were also informed that there will in fact be cuts. Due to the number of girls who want to play (65) the coach will have to cut some people because that's too many for three teams. Right now, unfortunately, it looks like this is bad news for the sophmores. Because there is a freshmen team, the freshman who don't get on jv will get on that team. Also, there are 28 people trying out for varsity, but only 18 spots, which means that 10 of the girls will be moved down to jv. That in turn, means that the sophmores who can't be on freshmen or varsity will have less of a chance to get on jv. Although of course, this is just what my friends and I have dicussed and we don't know how it will actually turn out.

On another note, I just watched "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," which I liked. I liked it because it was entertaining, because I like Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire) and because it was fun. So that was fun. I've also watched some of the video we have of our recent trip to Greece, and it's pretty good. So that's all for today.

Home

I am home from Greece! We had to get up at quarter to four to leave Athens, which wasn't great, but I managed to sleep on the first flight (sleeping on planes is rare for me) and on the second flight I got to watch a bunch of terrible movies. The most terrible, by far, was "What a Girl Wants." I would reccomend it to no one! Right now, it's 1:00 in the morning in Greece, so I'm feeling a little tired.

On another note, I had two soccer practices today. They both went well and our coach is nice. During the second practice it began raining incredibly hard, but only for a little bit. Practice did have to end early even though the rain ended though, because our coach didn't want to ruin the field. So it was a lot of fun.

I also thought I'd add that Than has an article in the Globe today if anyone's interested.

Baby

Happy anniversary Josh and Kara! I think it's pretty neat that right when I get home from Greece (or pretty soon after) I'll have a new neice or nephew! I'm still pushing to name it Libbo (if it's a boy) or Libby (if it's a girl), I mean who wouldn't want to name their baby one of those?

I also have an update on soccer. I recently heard via email from my friends that they (the school) is reinstating freshman soccer! Therefore meaning that I won't be cut. So I'm very excited to be on jv soccer! Yay!

Soccer

I'm continuing to have a fabulous time in Greece! A bunch of people have left recently though. Hannah and Alison left yesterday for home and today Than left for Iraq. Everyone will have to make sure to read his articles in the Globe while he's there. Other than that I'm headed off to the beach again today.

I've been running a little bit to get in shape for soccer, but I'm getting a little nervous about preseason. Because they cut the freshman team, that means people can be cut and I'm really hoping I won't be!

Alice, I loved your comment! It was fabulous. I"m about to run out of time here so I have to go! (I'm at an internet cafe) bye!

Still in Greece

As you can tell from my title, I am still in Greece. And I'm still having a good time. I've been to two christenings since I've been here and to some delicious dinners. So that's fun.

Yesterday, I went to Parasporos which is an incredibly wavy beach. The waves are seriously huge, so it's fun. Today though, I'm going back to the normal beach, across the bay. The other day, I also went to Tripiti. It has the clearest water ever so it was neat. And while we were there, there was this guy all dressed up in fancy scuba gear and he had a like spear in his hand. So he went under for a while and when he came back up he had an octopus. To kill it thought, spearing it through the head apparently wasn't enough, so he proceeded to whack it against this rock repeatedly. It was very interesting....

As much fun as I'm having here, I actually wish I had brought my new soccer cleats with me, cause I want to try them on. I bought them the morning before I left so that I'd be prepared for preseason soccer, but now I want to wear them. I just like getting new stuff. So now I'm off to be lazy for a while before heading off to the beach.

Haha, and nice comment on my last entry Josh. I was very amused.

In Greece

I'm in Greece right now! Please excuse any typing errors, this keyboard's wierd, or different that the one I'm used to at least. It is, as you might except, very beautiful here. It's kind of windy right, but nice nonetheless. So far, I've managed to get a nice tan without getting a sunburn.

As for food, Martha was unpleasently surprised the other day when she tried some misterious meat at a dinner and it turned out to be intestines, haha. But I've eaten all the yummy food, saganaki (fried cheese, my favorite), octopus and lots of other stuff.

So I will be updating this periodically, when I'm not busy at the beach that is. :)
