Goal for tomorrow: pack for Greece
I also just received my soccer preseason training letter. Turns out preseason starts the day after I get back from Greece... Fun. And we should be able to run two miles in 14 to 15 minutes, so I'll have to work on that while I'm in Greece. Well, it gives me something to do other than go to the beach. (Not that I particularly wanted to do anything else, haha, oh well.)
Goal for tomorrow: go on a run with Mom
We only stayed there for one night, and then ventured off to Jaco (or right outside of Jaco). At this location we got lessons about sea turtles from a marine biologist (and I have five pages of notes from it). We also took Latin dance lessons and attempted to take Spanish lessons, but that didn't exactly pan out.
We saw only two turtles while we were there, but learned a lot about other aspects of Costa Rican nature. We took night walks along the beach in search of turtles which was very interesting. We couldn't use flashlights because it confuses the turtles so it was pitch black. In order to get to the beach we had to trek down a really muddy road. We bought some rubber boots to protect from mud and potential snake bites. They majorly rubbed my legs which was irritating, but it was fun anyways.
On one of our last days there, we stopped at the Manuel Antonio National Park which was awesome. I can attribute most of my tan to our day there. So overall the trip was a complete success. I liked all the people on the trip and got some gifts (mostly for myself, haha, but also for family). As soon as I get pictures and figure out how to put them on my page, I'll do so.
Goal for tomorrow: pack for Connecticut
We arrived in (or, right outside of) San Jose and stayed overnight in a nice little hotel. The next morning we took a long drive to Monteverde. The roads were insanely bumpy and there were pot holes about every two feet. Also, I swear the bus drivers there would rather drive off a cliff than through a pot hole. We arrived in Monteverde (it's very high up on a mountain.) and stayed for four nights. While there, we went to the cloud forest, did a zipline through the forest, took a horseback ride to a waterfall and did a night tour of the forest. We also visited a butterfly place (where we got to release some butterflies ourselves) and a serpentarium (where Molly held a tarantula-sorry for my bad spelling). So that was all very neat. And that's all for now. I'll update more about the trip at a later date.
I'll also try to figure out how to put pictures on my site.
On another note, I got my permit today. I only got one question wrong, yay! The eye test on the other hand.... I managed to miss an entire column of numbers somehow, but I passed. My picture also came out pretty well, so I'm very pleased.
Goal for the next two weeks: be in Costa Rica (hmm, I think I'll be able to manage that)
Goal for tomorrow: pass permit test and finish packing
Yesterday, Kate and I made excellent progess towards getting our permits. We studied for a while at the State House and walked into the DMV. Immediatly upon arriving there, we deemed it to busy and crowded to bother scheduling appointments. So, I'll have to call at some point.
Tonight I plan on watching a fourth of July parade, even though it's July third. So that should be fun. My only plan so far for the fourth of July is to go see Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde. Mmm, fun fun.
The Costa Rica trip is also happening pretty soon, which is exciting. So I'm definetly looking forward to that.
I've been pretty bored without anything to do though. It's nice to have free time, but I need to find something to do!
Goal for tomorrow: look over Costa Rica list to see what I have/need
