And now for the more in depth look at my race. So we had to do two laps. My partner did one, I did one, then my partner again and finally me again. So my first lap went very well, except that the strap of my pole came loose. But other than that it was awesome. The second lap however...... Well first of all I had to use Greg's poles since my strap kept coming loose, and they were a little too long. That was alright though, but what was annoying was that some girl accidentally (she came up to me and apologized afterwards which was nice) skied over my pole so I lost it completely. So I ended up have to go back and get it, some guy handed it to me, but I swear to god it took FOREVER. Then I kept trying to pass this one girl, but everytime I came close the trail got way too narrow. Then I just got tired and slowed down. But it was still fun. I had a very good time.
Now, onto the last and most important topic.... My hair. As some of you may know, I had been growing my hair out for a while. But, I decided to get a slight change so I'm going tomorrow to get it cut. No, not short if that's what you're thinking. I'm not giving up on my goal to have long hair (haha, I know, what a great goal, huh?). But I'm just getting it changed slightly. And I'm doing that tomorrow, so I'm slightly nervous because I've grown accustomed to being able to put it all into an easy pony tail and now it will be different. But I've been trying to adapt Kara's attitude on hair (at least I think this is it, cause I remember talking to her about hair a long time ago) that it's just hair and it will grow back. Although I realize this is more of a fact thing than an attitude thing, but for anyone trying to resist the temptation to cut their hair it becomes more of an attitude thing. Anyways, I believe that concludes my shallow hair entry. So good job at the meet today Montpelier!
So onto today... The event of today was the ski meet of course! At 1:30, (which is basically right when bio started for me) we all had to leave to get ready for the meet. This was neat, but mostly annoying because I would rather have had the class today instead of going in tomorrow after school. But once we the race actually started it was actually fun. I only did the skating race, while everyone else (except a few, including myself) did both classical and skating. So it was fun.
And now, the conclusion of this fascinating entry... I've had an excellent two days since my last entry, plan to put forth more effort towards my entries and now I'm going to go back to watching "America's Next Top Model." And just a quick update for those of you who don't live in my house, I don't not watch tv very often anymore. So that does it for today folks!
So that just about does it for my weekend. Now I'm home, after a long four hour drive (that passed very quickly) and am of course right back on the computer...
Not to mention the fact that it isn't really necessary to send people to the moon. It's expensive, semi-dangerous and there are other ways to explore space. And even if you did want to put people on the moon, I don't think that should be our first priority right now, or even our second. Some people are also saying that this is a political move to show people that he has visions for the future. I just hope that people will realize what a bad idea this is considering all the things the U.S. has to deal with already. So I guess my only hope is that the democrats will get to the polls and vote in the next election.
Please let me know if anything I said (regarding the space program, the current financial situation, etc) here is incorrect. Although this is mainly just my interpertation and opinion of the news I just heard on the radio.
Following my test tomorrow, I plan to go to brunch with my friends (I love mid-terms, lots of free time), after which I will return to the school to finish up work on my video project. I can't accurately predict how frequently I'll update this week because despite the fact that I will have lots of free time, I do plan to study in that time.
Oh, I also thought I'd add that I think it's pretty funny how the media is calling Dean an "angry guy" and making fun of Vermonters. In the Times Argus, the editorial cartoon cited an ad that's being run in Iowa by the Club for Growth suggesting that Howard Dean "take his tax-hiking, government-expanding, latte-drinking, sushi-eating, Vovlo-driving, New York Times-reading, Hollywood-loving, left-wing freak show back to Vermont where it belongs." Haha, sounds about right to me.
When the races actually began it was okay. We did relays and I was on a team with Megan and Emily. And although we each did fine individually, we ended up coming in third to last. I should also add that I couldn't feel my toes, it was a little bit on the chilly side.
After the meet we all went back to the locker room. There was a boys basketball game taking place at the time (jv) and the other team was using the locker room, but they weren't in there. Although Alice realized they'd be entering soon because it was almost half time. So we changed very speedily and when we were getting all our stuff together to go, the whole other team walked in. It was pretty funny. Anyways, so we stayed and watched the rest of the jv game and the varsity game. And they both won! Yay.
So, all in all, it was a very good afternoon, despite the forgetting of the spandex and such. Oh well.
I discovered that I will not be having an exam in Creating with Video, so that takes away one. English Seminar only has a "response to literature" and that doesn't require any studying, so that leaves me with only four exams to study for! My goodness. Plus I like exam week, because it's fun - lots of free time! Yay! As if I need more free time right after that really long vacation.
So that concludes my entry for today, and tomorrow you can expect to hear alllll about the ski meet that will be taking place at the High School! If you live in town you should come, except not, cause it's gonna be cold.
