Hunger Mt.

So I'm passing up an opportunity to go hike Hunger Mountain with the school's outing club. It should be nice tomorrow, and I'm sure it would be a really pretty, nice hike. But, I've decided to pass it up because I'd like to see these Bennington folk (Martha and her friend Chris) before they leave, also I would like to spend some time with mother. So, my plan is to maybe wander around in Hubbard Park with my mum, so that I can still experience the beautiful fall weather, without committing a full day to hiking. Plus, I'm sure there will be many more opportunities to go hiking. Also, I must add quickly that I saw "I Heart Huckabees" tonight and I liked it, I'd reccommend it. Now, off to bed for me!

License

I did it! I got my license..... License to kill!! Dun dun dunn.... Heh, heh, I mean, license to drive.. (that's a lot funnier when you read it in an evil voice, so lets try it again, maybe italicizing it will help you get into the evil mood.)

I did it! I got my license..... License to kill!! Dun dun dunn.... Heh heh, I mean, license to drive..

There we go, now you've correctly interpreted my entry, and won't stay up at night wondering if I actually do have a license to kill.

Speaking of killing, we killed Lyndon in soccer today..... But they beat us 3-1. Oh well, the season's over. Well actually they lied to us, it's not quite over. We're scrimmaging varsity on Thursday, then the season's over. But we have reason to celebrate - it's a long weekend, woo hoo! Now I must go entertain my pesky guest that just arrived.... Kate.. Uhg. Sheesh. That's all for tonight folks!

Finishing Up

The season is nearing a close for the jv girls soccer team. We played our second to last game today against St. J. It was a very exciting game because were tied 1-1 and in the second overtime Mariel saved the day with an awesome shot that went right over the goalie. So needless to say we were all pleased. Tuesday is our last game, so hopefully that goes well. Maybe I'll score another goal. I had my first one ever in our game against Randolph on Thursday (I can't recall if I've updated about that yet).

So now I have to backtrack a bit, because I must also include that I took the psat's this morning (really early), so that was super fun! Actually it wasn't very bad at all. But who knows, I may be singing a different tune when I get my results (I hope not though). So anyways, that pretty much sums up my weekend (even though it's not over yet). And once soccer season ends, it'll be about time to get all geared up for skiing!! Okay, yes I know, it's a little early for that, but I can't wait. Oh also I should mention I'm probably taking my drivers test on Monday! And I've said "hopefully" too many times in this entry so far, but why not make it one more for good measure - hopefully my drivers test goes well.

Fun!

We won our soccer game against People's today! (2-0) So it was very exciting, and fun, as the title suggests.

Essays

This won't be much of an update, because I'm just taking a break from my essay for interp. Upon finishing that essay, I suppose I'll take a more substantial break and then delve into the National Honor Society application essay. I'm so excited to get startedd on that, because I really want to be in National Honor Society, it really seems like they do a lot. Yes, that was complete sarcasm. I'm not looking forward to writing it, and really the only point I see in joining is that you put it on your college application, because I'm unclear on what else they do, and no one else seems to be able to give me any answers. It basically just seems like a title that will tell the colleges "I have a 3.5 gpa or higher, and I'm at least mildly interested in looking like a desirable applicant." I did consider not applying just out of protest for how pointless I think it is, also because I think it's a bad habbit to do stuff just because everyone else is. But I figured I might as well, because a) I don't want to deal with people asking me why I didn't and b) it will look good to colleges, even if it doesn't really mean too much. Kind of like the SAT's, they don't have much correlation to how well you'll perform in college, but you'd be dumb not to take them. Anyhow, I hope I haven't offended anyone who is really in love with the National Honor Society. (Oh and also, if I get in, I'll get a yellow tassle at my graduation, instead of green or white or whatever color it is, and that's what really counts.)

Soccer Fun

Yesterday the varsity girls soccer team had an incredible game against Northfield. They beat them 2-1 in overtime, and it's the first time in the history of girls soccer at Montpelier that we've beat Northfield (we tied with them two years ago though). So it was pretty awesome. And today the boys team won 1-0 against Spaulding, which was very cool. In my game against Northfield, our team played the best they've played all season (even though we lost 5-3 and they were playing one man down). We switched the line up a bit, so instead of having two strikers and four in the back, we have three strikers and three in the back. I like this a lot (as a striker) because then a lot more people move up and we have a lot more chances to score. There were a lot more shots in this game than in our other ones. So I'm excited for our next game. Oh and also, my last soccer related comment, I have to ref a game for 3rd and 4th graders on Saturday and I'm nervous, cause I've never reffed before, but it'll be fun. That's all for now!

Music

Today I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing four men from Rwanda perform at our school. They sang and danced and played various instruments, it was really awesome. Reminded me of my good old days at various dance camps trying to do African dance. Anyhow, that made me think of how much I like music and how last year I was pestering my parents about taking tabla lessons (an Indian drum). I was really enthusiastic about it until I forgot about it. This triggered my memory though, and now I want to play the drums, some African drum, or the tabla or something. I just suggested it to my dad and he pulled his usual dad trick: suggested that I play the piano.

Back when I was about... oh in second grade, I really wanted to play the violin (probably mainly because Abra did). But my dad used a tricky trick and said "it would probably be better to play the piano so you can learn to read music." Little did I know he was merely suggesting it because we already had a piano. Then again, that's when I was in my quitting phase, so I'd understand not wanting to get me something that I would quit right away (some losers - like my friends - might try to tell you I still am in my quitting phase, and then they'd bring up my brief working days at Angeleno's and then I'd have to slap them). Now back to music. So anyways, hey dad if you had let me play the violin maybe I could have gone to Carnegie hall too. Haha. No just kidding, I'd rather go to Rwanda right now and do some African dancing!

On a more somber note, I'll also mention that there were some Rwandan speakers who talked about the genocide that took place there in 1994, which was very sad. Anyways, the whole deal made my school day about a million times more interesting, and obviously triggered new Lib interests!

Yay, I finally found a cool link that Josh doesn't have (yet)! Check it out!

Debate and Homecoming

So these two topics, homecoming and the presidential debate, are not at all related, but will be addressed in one entry nonetheless. First things first, I just returned home (about a half hour ago) from our game against U32, which we should have won... I didn't think we played too well (although I didn't have that much of a chance, because I didn't play very much, oh well), but we only lost 1-0. And we did pick it up later in the game. So it was fun. Now, onto the debate. Basically I thought Bush was pretty pathetic and I can't imagine anyone really honestlty thinking it went well for him. I thought Kerry did a great job. So I was pleased. The end.
