Essays

This won't be much of an update, because I'm just taking a break from my essay for interp. Upon finishing that essay, I suppose I'll take a more substantial break and then delve into the National Honor Society application essay. I'm so excited to get startedd on that, because I really want to be in National Honor Society, it really seems like they do a lot. Yes, that was complete sarcasm. I'm not looking forward to writing it, and really the only point I see in joining is that you put it on your college application, because I'm unclear on what else they do, and no one else seems to be able to give me any answers. It basically just seems like a title that will tell the colleges "I have a 3.5 gpa or higher, and I'm at least mildly interested in looking like a desirable applicant." I did consider not applying just out of protest for how pointless I think it is, also because I think it's a bad habbit to do stuff just because everyone else is. But I figured I might as well, because a) I don't want to deal with people asking me why I didn't and b) it will look good to colleges, even if it doesn't really mean too much. Kind of like the SAT's, they don't have much correlation to how well you'll perform in college, but you'd be dumb not to take them. Anyhow, I hope I haven't offended anyone who is really in love with the National Honor Society. (Oh and also, if I get in, I'll get a yellow tassle at my graduation, instead of green or white or whatever color it is, and that's what really counts.) Posted by lib at October 10, 2004 12:56 PM
