The Two Hops
Today in bio we did a really fun lab involving jump roping. There were four volunteers (Tyler, Maayan, Paul and Pat A.) jumping rope in two minutes intervals, about 10 times. There were two timers, four temperature takers (assigned to each jumper), and a few observers assigned to each jumper also (my job was observing Maayan, which I did, very well). All the jumpers happened to be varsity athletes so I had a lot of confidence in their jumping abilities. They all got tired and sweaty, which is understandable, especially because they were doing the one jump style.
Alice reported that in her class, out of the four jumpers (Alice, Ruthie, Emmett and Kendra--all varsity athletes as well) she was the only one to do the two hop style, which is what I do. The one hop is impossible and not fun at all. So I prefer the nice, casual two hops. It's still challenging, just in a different way.
So I got home and felt like I need to exercise, but instead of going to the gym, I opted for jump roping in the kitchen while I watched tv. I jumped for 10 minutes (sooooo tiring), then did lunges for 10 minutes (again, sooo tiring). It was just wonderful though. Now I'm all energized for my long weekend! Hooray!

Terrible Movie
Last night I went to see
The Hills Have Eyes with my friends and it was the worst decision I've made so far in 2006. Going in, all I knew was that it was a scary movie, but when I left I wasn't even scared, I was just disgusted and wished that I didn't even know the movie existed. Anyways, that marks the end of horror movies for me.

Blood Typing
We had a really fun lab in bio today in which we found our blood types (Tyler and I knew ours already due to our Red Cross donating experiences). Turns out my really rare blood type (only found in 3% of the population, not as rare as A- (2%) or AB- (1%)) isn't so special anymore. There were three girls in the other class who were AB+. But it's still a pretty neat blood type. We have all the glycoproteins and no antibodies, and we can receive blood from any blood type (universal receiver, as opposed to the universal donor, O+). So that was fun. Now I must go read
Heart of Darkness.

Birthday Girl
Today is the anniversary of the wonderful day on which I was born, purple head and all. I've had a wonderful birthday!
I'm also very excited because we're beginning our unit on tissues in bio, and we're doing a lab on connective tissue, specifically blood. Since I enjoy giving blood so much, I've developed an interest in it, so it should be a neat lab. Now to keep this entry from getting too much dorkier, I'll go! (I have about four episodes of Friends that need watching, yay for TBS).
Happy Birthday in advance to: Myrto and Beth!! and almost Aaron!!

Concluding Vacation
I shall be heading to bed in only a few short hours as it is suddenly a school night. I'm happy to say that I had a fabulous vacation, and I felt I did all the vacationy things that should be done. I worked, I lazed around, I skied (twice- sooo fun), I hung out with friends, I was occassionally bored. So it was just wonderful. And now I only have about four and a half weeks untill the next vacation, what a tough life.
In getting back into the swing of school, I finally sat down to begin brainstorming my Hamlet essay. After I thought up a genius idea, I realized it was exactly the same as the essay I wrote about Wuthering Heights first semester just with different characters and different character qualities.... Ohh well.
