Schoolio

Well I'm getting back into the school mode, which is good seeing as I'll be in school for another million years. All my classes are pretty good so far and the homework has been good. Soccer's been good as well, although my foot/ankle really hurts. Oh well.

Impressive fact of the day: Because I'm always fascinated by fast runners, I thought I'd share this. I learned today that apparently some of my friends can run a mile in 5 to 5 1/2 minutes! Very quick.

Swimming

Despite the fact that it's raining now, today was actually the perfect day for swimming. So that's what my friends and I did. We drove out to Worcester (thank God Trina's off graduated license, but I still need to get mine...) and went to a swimming hole, which was very nice. It was a bit chilly, but that's to be expected. I'm glad I got to go though, because I don't think I went to enough swimming holes this summer. It'll be easier next summer when I have my license (I'm working on it, only like a billion hours to go). Anyhow, that's all for now!

School and Soccer

So after realizing I hadn't updated in a while, and getting some reminders from my friends to do that, I'm finally here contemplating how to begin my massive entry. Update: Okay, so it didn't turn out to be that massive. Since soccer has been a theme on my site lately, I suppose I'll start with that.

So first of all, I really like my team. We have a lot of good soccer players so I think it should be a good season. We actually had our first scrimmage this past Thursday, against Woodstock. The field was pretty small, and we played alright the first half, and then pretty well in the second half. Although, we lost 2-1.

That Thursday also happened to be the first day of school, sort of. We went in for an hour to get pictures, lockers, etc. Friday was the first real day of school. We had a brief assembly in the morning and then classes. This year's going to be pretty tough, but managable. So now I'm going to enjoy my Saturday... and maybe look at my pre-calc homework? We'll see.

Soccer News

Congratulations Alice, Becky, Emma and all the returning varsity players for making varsity soccer. Nice work. (I couldn't think of any clever little intro to this entry, so I'm just reporting it in a rather boring manner. But, I figure, the news is ineteresting enough that it doesn't need a clever little intro!). I presumably will be on jv, woo hoo! Although if I somehow get cut from that.... well then you can probably expect a somewhat bitter entry. But, not today! I'm very proud of my friends for making varsity, and I even have some bragging of my own to do. In the morning running session of preseason today (we run at 8 in the morning for a while, and the soccer part takes place later in the day), we had to run five laps around the perimeter of the school property, which people were estimating was about 3-5 miles. I started out at a normal Lib pace, but then upon realizing I wasn't tired, I decided to push it a little harder. So I made short term goals to pass people (by increasing my speed a little, but maintaining it) and I ended up finishing 7th out of everyone. I don't know exactly how many girls there are, but enough to fill up three soccer teams. So I was very pleased with that and I'm thinking that will help with ski team. If I keep running in between soccer season and ski season, I'll be sure to be in pretty good shape (I know, it's a little early to be thinking about ski season, but I can't help it). So that is the news for today.

August 16, 2004

So before I launch into anything, I just thought I'd post this link for those of you interested in seeing what Ruthie's been up to in Switzerland so far! I need to have Josh show me how to make a side bar because then I may find some sites worth putting on it. Including a site for all my pictures I keep saying I'll post. Maybe I'll make some ultra fabulous 'end of summer' entry with pictures recapping the fascinating events that took place! Oh that'd be neat.

Speaking of neat, I had soccer preason today and it actually was just that - neat. Although I'm anticipating being on jv, all juniors seniors and anyone else interested have to try out for varsity. But that's actually a good thing, plus I'm with all my friends, so it's fun. The running this morning was pretty good. We had to run two miles. Some amazing people, like Maayan, ran that in just over 14 minutes! Very impressive if you ask me. Other people, namely Alice and I, ran it in more like 19 minutes and 50 seconds, which we're happy with. Which is almost like running two ten minute miles. Then we ran one timed mile after, and Alice and I also got matching times of 9 minutes and 21 seconds. (By the way, I'm sure/I hope, Alice doesn't mind me sharing our times with the whole world... The whole world being the few dedicated people that read this site). Going to the soccer camp last week helped a lot with this week I think. So that is all for now, I'm off to get a snack and maybe collapse on the couch.

Ruthie

Well dear Ruthie is leaving tomorrow for Switzerland (or Svitzerlünd, as Kate and Alice would have me say). She'll be gone all semester which is ultra crazy. Then again, I'm guessing she'll have a fabulous time, because everyone always says how exchanges are the best things ever, and those who never did them wish they had. So best of luck to Ruthie!!

Sitting With Kate

So folks, I'm working on a fabulous new idea for my site. Actually I've mentioned this before I believe, I just never actually do it. I want to link pictures to here and I'm really going to get started on that. It's just that everytime I think about it, I happen to be in the middle of some fascinating conversation online (probably with this loser sitting next to me), so I don't do it. But I really will soon.

I also had a very nice visit this weekend with Josh, Kara and Sophers. Tomorrow I'll be going to soccer camp (just for two hours) and I'm actually, despite all my nervousness and last minute wanting to back out, looking forward to it! Should be fun. That's all for now!

Home

I have returned home, accompanied by Josh, Kara and Sophie. It was a very fun visit, but it's always nice to be home. Hmm, unfortunately I haven't much to say aside from that.

Claeys

I am currently at the Claeys house staying with Melissa, Aaron and Alison. We've had just a splendid time so far. Also, I am making tremdenous progress on my summer homework for AP US and Spanish. And I'm not going to want to see another Krispy Kreme doughnut for a long while. Other than that, I haven't much to report to you. Except that school is approaching very quickly! Next week I have soccer camp (only two hours a day) and the week after is preseason soccer, then school!

So I've gotten all toughened up from the summer, as evident in my various minor injuries. To start, I have a bruise on my hand from when I hurt it on the railing walking down the stairs. Next, I have a fading bruise on my leg from when I ran into a parked car (I swear I'm not a clutz though). I also have a bagillion scrapes on my leg from running through a thorn bush at VINS while playing capture the flag (and was covered in mud for camoflage!). I also have a bruise on my forehead, which you can't see, but I can feel it. I was playing basketball and attempting to gaurd Emmett when I slammed my head into his, oops. Plus there are my many blisters.

So anyhow, now that you are all filled in on the latest Libby events, I suppose I'll end this entry. Oh, first though I think I'll point out that not all my entries are entirely about me. I go through phases of having something intelligent to say, telling random stories, random space fillers and yeah, that about covers it. That's all for now!
