St. Libby
So Hannah, Alison and I are still enjoying our stay in St. Lucia. I must say, my absolute favorite part is the people. Everyone is very friendly, they'll say hello and get into a long conversation. Although I've decided that smiling and talking to people in dark allies isn't a good idea, haha (no worries father, Hannah and I were just taking a walk, it was very safe). So I love the people here, so much so that maybe I'll just have to move here some day. Our bus today (their buses by the way are like extended vans, and the driving is a little shady) got pulled over by the policemen (who ride around in the back of a pick up truck) beacuse our driver started driving in the other lane to avoid traffic. But it was all good. Last night we went to a street party or "jump up" in the next town over because our friend we met at the beach told us to go. It was really cool, there was lots of music and food and people. Tonight we just wandered the streets here a bit and there are like trillions of people. We had to come back though because we need to rest up before our trek into the rain forest tomorrow!
So basically it's really neat here. Although I've given up telling people my name is Libby cause they just don't get it. It's like:
St. Lucian guy: Hello, how are you?
Me: (with a super nice Lib smile of course) I'm good, how are you?
St. Lucian guy: (of course picture all this with a carribean accent) Are you enjoying your stay here?
Lib: Oh mm hmm! It's really nice!
St. Lucian guy: My name is (fill in the blank)
Lib: (having no idea what his name is) I'm Libby.
St. Lucian guy: (leaning closer in hopes to understand such a foreign name) What?
Lib: Libby
St. Lucian guy: hmm?
Lib: Li-bby
St. Lucian guy: (looking confused) Emily?
Lib: mm, Elizabeth.
St. Lucian guy: Oh yes, Elizabet.
So that's the gist of some of the conversations. Well now I must go rest up!
