I just read
Josh's website and was reading about the article he read that was about trying to mix kids of different levels in one class. I agree with Josh that this is a terrible idea. My school basically organizes kids into different groups based on how smart they are basically. I think that's good because then kids who pick things up faster can go at a faster pace, and those who need more time on certain topics get that extra time. When you try to mix them up, just as Josh said, the smart kids get bored and lazy and the kids who are a little slower don't even know what's going on.
In the past, at school we've had to get into groups to work on projects and (mainly when we were younger, not so much now) we'd have to include smart kids and not so smart kids. So it usually ended up that one or two kids in the group would end up doing all the work.
Basically, I just re-worded what Josh said on his site, but oh well.
