"Where there is yet shame, there may in time be virtue."

I just stumbled across this site - Johnson Sound Bites (JSB). Father would have been pleased, although he might not have been too taken with the web overall. That is perhaps not fair, since I recall that when I was in high school and Dear Old Dad was teaching a course, Introduction to Graduate Studies, I think, he had a visiting fireman from Computer Science come in and give a lecture on how computers would be useful for word processing (aka writing). As told to me by Dad, the process involved coding of letters and numbers with some arcane system called ASCII. Then you could type on a keyboard and get the computer to figure out which letters and numbers you wanted. This pile of data would then be stored on punch cards, or maybe tape for later use. I remember quite clearly thinking that it was all a load of crap. Who would possibly want to mess around with such a clunky system for writing? Wrong, once again. Dad was, however, always interested in cool gizmos, so he may have actually turned into a blogger himself, had he lived another decade or two.

Frank Lynch, of JSB fame, also has an interesting blog .
